Could Ahmadinejad be the Antichrist?

If you have wondered or debated this thought in your mind you have good reason to do so. Ahmadinejad the president of Iran comes very close to the description of the Antichrist in the Bible. Most Americans realize while listening to the peaceful, passive and kind words of Ahmadinejad that every word he is speaking is a deception and is geared to leading the other nations around him into supporting or at least sympathizing with his situation.

As I sat in my living room in September 2008 watching the Iranian President in his address to the United Nations I was amazed. The words that flowed from his lips seemed to captivate all that were in the room listening to what he had to say. Calmly and very wisely he condemned America and brought about his case and hope to everyone with the smooth agility of a panther capturing his prey. I found myself almost in sympathy with him on many things that he said because they seemed to make sense to logic and reason. The only thing that kept me from his deception was the Word of God and the knowledge that this man wants to destroy America and Israel.

It would certainly make sense to the smaller countries of the world that do not have nuclear weaponry that they have just as much right to own or possess these weapons as the United States or any other country. When it comes to equality the United States does seem to be partial to only a few nations with nuclear capability and tries to prevent others from acquiring them. Who do they think they are, Is the cry from many of these countries. It is understandable and viewed from their position it is easy to see this. It is God himself that has raised up America to act as a protector of humanity in these last days. But, sadly America is not always able to do so. Many nations do not understand America's role in these last days and will fall captive to the words of men like Ahmadinejad because of it.

What many in America do not realize is that without America, Israel would not exist. But the Muslim countries and others do realize this and hate America for it. This is the reason that we are called "big Satan" and Israel is called "little Satan". Without America's might and influence in the world Israel would have ceased to exist a long time ago. She has now been standing for over fifty-seven years. The US and her allies standing together against those who would destroy Israel have made this possible. All of the nations that hate Israel know this and feel pushed around because of it. Anytime you see an Israeli flag being burned on the streets of some Muslim city you always see an American flag being destroyed as well. They feel that America is to be blamed.

One of the things that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said is that the story of the Holocaust in Europe by Hitler is just a myth that the free world has invented. Many in Germany have tried to convince him otherwise but he will not hear of it. Just as Hitler used his book and other books about some sort of Jewish takeover to convince millions to believe in his lies Ahmadinejad uses the media and other sources to convince millions that he is telling the truth. The UN is no exception from his seemingly sensible view on nations and their rights, it sounds so right.

To many of us in Christianity we have such a bazaar view of the Antichrist that we cannot see the simplicity of his ability to convince others to follow him. We need to realize that millions will follow the Antichrist because they do not know the scriptures. They will be deceived because they do not believe the Bible (2nd Thessalonians 2:10-12). If the Muslim people believed the Word of God there would be no conflict at all, because they would realize that God gave the land of Palestine, as it is now called by many, to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac. At that time it was called the land of Canaan. Today we see the small nation of Israel surrounded by people who hate her. Mohammed the prophet of Islam claimed that God had given the promise of the land through Ishmael Abraham's first born son by Hagar the handmaid. It was customary to give the birthright to the firstborn in those days, but God intervened and gave this promise to Isaac the son that he had promised would be born from Sarah, Abraham's wife. But the Islamic Koran will dispute this. This stands as the determining factor that divides and will eventually destroy the Muslim nations that follow the Koran rather than the Bible. Because they reject the truth for a lie they will be deceived by the Antichrist and perish.

God said that he would cause Jerusalem to become a burdensome stone in the last days.

Zechariah 12:3: And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

The reason Jerusalem has become a burdensome stone is because it is the leading Holy City of three different religions. Christians, Jews and Muslims alike all make a claim to Jerusalem. Born again Christians for the most part believe that Jerusalem should belong to the people of Israel because of God's promise but the line is drawn between these two groups and Islam when it comes to their beliefs. One of these days in the near future many nations, not all nations, but many will invade Israel. All of these nations will have the firm believe that Jerusalem belongs to Islam and that the people of Israel and their allies should relinquish this city and the land of Palestine to them. They will be destroyed. God said that even if all the nations of the world came against Jerusalem he would destroy them. But thank God not all of the nations of the world will do this. Only those who do not believe what the Bible has to say about this.

Now that Jerusalem is for the most part in Israeli hands there is a continual struggle to remove all of Israel from the land. People who really believe that this is the right thing are doing this. They believe that this is right, think about this, because this is the way the Antichrist will influence people to follow his plan.

Ahmadinejad said that anybody who recognizes Israel would burn in the fire at the Islamic nation fury. This is not a vain threat but is meant to be a promise. This is Bible fulfillment being acted out before our eyes. I am not saying that Ahmadinejad is the Antichrist for sure but if he isn't he is certainly helping to set the stage for the Antichrist. The treaty that is spoken about in Daniel is also known as the holy treaty. The reason it is called a holy treaty is because only God can make a holy covenant or treaty. The treaty that the Antichrist will eventually sign will be to recognize that Israel is a state and does have the right as a people to live in the land of Palestine. God promised this to Abraham, and when this treaty is signed it will be in agreement with the promise that God made to him. I doubt very seriously that the Antichrist will believe that he doing this in agreement with God. He will simply sign the peace agreement to buy himself some time in order to carry out his plan to gain control of Israel. The Antichrist will appear to be acting in the best interest of Islam and Israel and will cause a false sense of peace that will not hold for very long. Notice that Ahmadinejad said that anyone who recognizes Israel would burn in the fire at the Islamic nation's fury.

You see most of Islam is looking for the day that they will rise up against Israel and any nation who is helping her and at that time their messiah or Mahdi will help them. They believe that he will return along with the help of Jesus to destroy all Christians and Jews who do not submit to Mohammed the Prophet and the teachings of the Koran.

They believe that Jesus was a prophet and foretold of Mohammed when he said that he would send another comforter that would lead and guide them into all truth and righteousness. Of course in Christianity we know that Jesus was speaking of the Holy Ghost, but to Islam they believe that Jesus was pointing to the time that Mohammed would bring truth to the world and that the Koran would be the only source of that truth. They believe that they will destroy all the nations that stand with Israel on the day of Islamic fury against the heathen at that time. They believe that that day is coming and call it the day of Armageddon the same as us, but they are looking at it from the other side of the coin. Ironically this battle will take place but the outcome of it will be very shocking to those who follow the Koran rather than the Bible.

Ahmadinejad went on to say that Israel would be annihilated in one storm and that they would be completely wiped off the map. He has gone on to say that the anger of the Iranian nation would be extremely burning and devastating. Iran is the bear's feet on the beast in Revelation 13:1 and this reveals that Iran will be the mobilizing factor in the nations of the Antichrist. As to whether or not Ahmadinejad is the Antichrist is impossible to determine, however he has many of the characteristics of the Antichrist. His power of persuasion is one of them. Many in Islam today look up to him as a great and mighty leader who is not afraid of America or Israel. This has gained the respect of many Muslims today. He has stated in the past that if he were to wage war on Israel and the West that the Mahdi would come and help him to destroy the enemy. He is convinced that Allah is on his side and that he will someday prevail.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad invented a new word called "Mahdaviat." This word is derived from the word Mahdi and means "belief in and efforts to prepare for the Mahdi." Ahmadinejad said, "Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi." Ahmadinejad believes that Allah has chosen him to be the person to prepare the way for the Mahdi. Since he believes that the Mahdi will return within two years, four years at the most he believes that it is time to stop worrying about the United States or any other powerful nation that stands in their way. As we know that John the Baptist prepared the way of Jesus Christ, Ahmadinejad sees himself in the same way. He often raises the topic, and not only to Muslims. When addressing the United Nations in September, Mr. Ahmadinejad flummoxed his audience of world political leaders by concluding his address with a prayer for the Mahdi's appearance: "O mighty Lord, I pray to you to hasten the emergence of your last repository, the Promised One, that perfect and pure human being, the one that will fill this world with justice and peace." On returning to Iran from New York, Mr. Ahmadinejad recalled the effect of his UN speech: one of our group told me that when I started to say "In the name of God the almighty and merciful," he saw a light around me, and I was placed inside this aura. I felt it myself. I felt the atmosphere suddenly change, and for those 27 or 28 minutes, the leaders of the world did not blink. … And they were rapt. It seemed as if a hand was holding them there and had opened their eyes to receive the message from the Islamic republic.

A terrible lack of understanding amongst Christian believers today prevents us from being able to see as clearly as we should. We create our own confusion with our imaginations. In Revelation the 13th Chapter we read where the false prophet will set up an image of the Antichrist and will cause others to worship this image. To many this is literal and it would mean that the false prophet will set up a statue and that the followers of the Antichrist will worship this statue. Then it says that he will give life to the image. I suppose that some would view this as being a statue walking around speaking and talking and everyone amazed at this great miracle. However the truth is a very clear and simple message. The image that the false prophet will create will be a vision or a dream of future conquest and a world totally taken over by Islam. A dream such as Hitler had concerning the Third Reich and it supposedly taking over the world and enslaving it. The greater super race controlling the world and destroying the Jews that polluted it was the dream or image of Nazism. This dream created through Nazism came to life when Hitler began to invade other nations. It seemed to the world at that time that he was unstoppable. This was believed by many for several years. His own believed in this and it lead them eventually to their own death. This is the type of image that the Antichrist will have and it will be a false dream, one without truth and without hope. It will be a dream that will defy God and all that he stands for. But it will come to an end. Ironically Ahmadinejad uses the same kind of propaganda that Hitler did and is motivated with the same hatred. This hatred is directed at the Jews and anyone who helps or supports them in any way.

Question: Is Ahmadinejad the Antichrist? To be truthful I don't think so, but I am sure that as time goes along the truth will be made manifest to us. The Bible clearly tells us in scripture that the Antichrist will not deceive any person whose name is written in the Lamb’s book of life at all. Only he and his false hope will take those individuals whose names are not written in the book for Islam and the Beast.

There are scriptures in Daniel that indicates that the Antichrist will emerge from one of the four horns of the Grecian Empire. Those nations at that time were Macedonia, Thrace, Egypt and Syria. Something to think about anyway. God will help us to understand as the time draws near.
